St. Peters Church in Vienna

The first church of St. Peter, from which unfortunately nothing is remained, has a history that goes back to late Antiquity. Therefore, it is the oldest church in the city of Vienna. The church is supposed to be founded by Emperor Charles the Great around 792, but this cannot be proved. Around 1701, on the initiative of Emperor Leopold I, the construction of the church began, since the walls were already quite decayed. The present church building was completed in 1733. The church of St. Peter is located in the first district of the city of Vienna, directly next to the moat. It disappears almost between the high houses of the city and can only be seen if you are standing directly in front of it. Here the Mozart piano sonatas take place.
